The following is taken from one of those Facebook "lists" that goes around periodically. I put some thougth into it and feel that it is a good representation of who I am.
I have led a very charmed life. I try not to take this for granted. I feel like my storm is brewing, and when it makes landfall, I hope to weather it with grace, dignity and good humor..
I like to make things small. The after-party dishes are much less overwhelming if they are stacked neatly by the sink.
My husband is a very kind, selfless person. Once, for my birthday, he agreed to scratch my back whenever I wanted, for the rest of my life. I guess that's more about him than me, but supports my statement about the ease of my life. It's people like him that allow me to feel so loved and blessed.
I love learning about food- where it comes from, how it gets from point A to my table, how to prepare it, and what are the best choices for my body and this planet. Along those same lines, I would consider becoming a vegetarian if it weren't for pork. I would have a difficult time giving up all the piggy goodness.
I would hate to lose my vision. Take any other body part, but please leave my eyes alone. Thank you.
I am afraid of wind.
Parenting is the most difficult endeavor I have undertaken. Yet, every day I am rewarded with my children's gifts of honesty, joy, spirit, will, talent, love, purity, trust and peace. They are challenging, inspiring, humbling, and motivating. They fill me with hope and an endless source of pride.
Fall is my favorite season. I love the crispy crunch, the sunny warmth, the exuberant yet waning colorfulness, and the ominous and peaceful chill.
Very old things (particularly quilts, furniture and ceramic bowls) fascinate me. I love to imagine who created them and why, and how they might have ended up where they are now. I think about the hands that worked on them, and the time and effort it took to create them without electricity.
I enjoy reading the "Reader Salutes" in my local paper. People write in to thank (usually anonymous) members of the community who have leant a helping hand, supported a worthy cause, or performed a selfless act. Their words of gratitude remind me of the impact that even small gestures have in our daily lives. Reach out because you can. You will be remembered and appreciated.
My dream house is a converted barn, with soaring ceilings and large, open rooms.
I love to create things. People describe me as "clever" and "creative." Really, I am just good at taking inspiration from others. I rarely have my own original thoughts or ideas. I guess that makes me a good thief, although I always try to give credit...
I want to go visit Norway and Sweden. I'd like to spend several months there.
At some point in the future I will become a Master Gardener. I already am a Master Recycler, and enjoyed the learning and community service aspects of the course.
I hate folding laundry. It is a big problem. Anyone who has had the misfortune of coming to my home on a Thursday can attest to this. I am trying to be good about folding the clothes as they come out of the dryer, but you are more likely to see a giant mountain of clean clothes on my bedroom floor.
I like Gin.
I like you.
I am thankful for each and every one of you and the influence, whether large or small, that you have been in my life. You inspire me, motivate me, and make me a better person. Thank you!
I wish for you a great day full of love, hope, joy, service, tenderness and comfort.
